I had such a great time photographing this family of five. Yes. Five. Count them carefully. :)

A little while ago Brenda contacted me about shooting her family photos. I was a touch more-than-usual nervous about the session, as Brenda is also a photographer! Thankfully it all went well–and now I have a new friend who shares my obsession with apertures, large prints and all things Canon. :)

One of my favorite shots–not just from this session–EVER!

And of course, a couple of new portraits for her bio page. :)
…I MIGHT just have to take a photo of you. Again. :)

Remember Zoë, from her family photo session last year? They came back for more this year, and I’ve got lots of great ones that I can’t wait to share as soon as I get a chance. For now, here’s a cute detail from the session:

If you’ve been considering getting professional family photos done, email or call me (303.651.6147) to schedule a date.
Last week Colin turned two (!!), so I took the afternoon off to get some photos in our backyard:

(earlier that morning James had gone with his preschool class on a field trip to a karate school)
James enjoyed Colin’s birthday just as much Colin did (he “helped” him blow out his candles AND unwrap his birthday presents)
I know I’m biased, but I’ve never seen someone eat a peanut butter rice krispie treat and look THAT cute.
James’ dollar store birthday present to Colin…

I realized recently that with the craziness of business this summer that I’d taken very few photos of James and Colin. Last week we decided to fix that.
This one is my new computer wallpaper. I love it. It’s so James. so Colin.

I have a journal for both James and Colin that I’ve written in since the day they were born. Thought I’d share a funny entry from James’:
Sunday, July 12, ’09
Today I was complaining how hot it was in our house/how hot I was. James said, “Do you want me to get you a cold blanket?”…
….James was telling me stories tonight. It was about a boy who liked to climb mountains, but then fell in a hole…there were spiders in the hole…and they bit the boy, so he had to go to the doctor.
“Did he have to get shots?” I asked.
“Yes.”
“Did he cry?”
“No, because he didn’t have a head…the spiders bit it off.”

Colin is a funny guy too….he just has less of a vocabulary to be funny with.
On Sunday when we were driving home from church, Colin was pointing out things that were exciting to him.
“moto-cycle daddy…! see it?!”
“trash truck mommy…! see it?!”
Then we drove passed a house with a fair amount of garbage/broken everythings in their front yard.
“garage sale daddy…! see it?!?”
Ha! (it wasn’t a garage sale)

Kevin gave his wife a family photo session for her birthday, which, I think, is one of the coolest gifts to be given (yes, I know I’ve said it before, but it’s my blog, so I’ll say it again, and again, and again…..because it IS!).
We shot the session in Lyons, and little Liam definitely kept me moving :)

Who wouldn’t want one of these delicious kisses???

Wow….so. darn. cute.

Rain, hail, TORNADOs….! Colorado is certainly experiencing some one-of-a-kind June weather, and unfortunately the session scheduled last week was rescheduled due to rain. Sorry blog!
In the meantime, here are a few personal images taken a couple of weeks ago…back when the weather was actually nice and we were spending time in our sunny backyard. :)

This is my favorite-ever photo of Colin and me together…

can you find Colin…?

why get a dog when you’re already the proud parent of this bundle of joy???
seriously…I am TOTALLY the queen of plastic-bat/plastic ball softball… :) …sent it over the ROOF…WHOOP WHOOP!
he’s even better though…
Have a SUNNY weekend! :)
