Snow Cave to Sledding Hill

Last Wednesday was the first big snowstorm of the season.  While I made a warm pot of creamy turkey wild-rice soup (yum!) Jim spent the afternoon building a big snow cave with James and Colin.  Within 24 hours the 12-inches of snow was quickly melting, so Jim transformed the snow cave into a James-Colin sized sledding hill.

And one below from the big snowstorm.  James had to go to school but Colin enjoyed a day of eating snow from the backyard:

Wedding Inspiration Shoot at Frog Belly Farm

This shoot was posted on Style Me Pretty several months ago, so many of you have likely seen it. OLD NEWS–I KNOW!  BUT–it was a fun shoot and I couldn’t pass up featuring on my own blog. So here it is again. :)

The Farm-to-Table inspiration shoot was a project that began early in 2011.  For several years I’d been dreaming about doing an inspiration shoot. With a bit of down time in the winter I finally decided I was going to make it happen.  I contacted Heather Dwight, owner of Calluna Events in Boulder, because I knew it was something I wouldn’t be able to pull off without some help.   We almost instantly decided on Frog Belly Farm just north of Boulder as the location for the shoot, and chose a “farm-to-table” theme for the style.  Heather and I gathered the best wedding vendors in Colorado and this is what we came up with:

The best part?  After weeks of hard work and several hours of shooting at Frog Belly Farm everyone involved gathered around the table and enjoyed a fresh cooked farm meal under the setting sun.  So perfect.  FYI: pickled paprika peppers??? Seriously one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten!**

LOVE it! It looks incredible on your blog Angie!

A Few From Our Sunday Walk…

Pretty sure this is what life’s all about…Shoving sticks and apples into their pockets. Remind me to take those out next time I do laundry.James kept borrowing my camera to take some photos.  After lots of praise and compliments on his photo skills he asked, “do you think I should be a muh-tographer when I grow up???”  I would be okay with that. :)

The photo of me on the right was taken by my someday-professional-photographer-son James.My dad took this photo of us. My new favorite family portrait.

Thanks Melinda–now that crazy summer is over I’ll try and blog more family stuff! Thanks Julia! That comment made my day!

Kate & Joe | Grayslake Illinois Wedding

Remember a few weekends ago when the weather in Colorado was terrible???  Snow, sleet, chilly temps (or so I heard!). That was the weekend Jim and I were enjoying perfect weather in Illinois with Kate and Joe for their wedding. :)Kate had plans for a cute pair of turquoise heels until she hurt her foot the week prior to the wedding.  I love these sparkly Toms she wore in place of the heels: These socks were delivered to Joe while he was getting ready with this message from Kate: “Don’t get cold feet!” :)Cutest church exterior I’ve ever seen in the U.S.  Someone please introduce me to a church building this darling in Colorado.

Larissa & Xavier | Boulder Wedding | Hotel Boulderado

I love the love that seems to follow every wedding ceremony–especially Larissa and Xavier’s:

Jim and I walked around Boulder the week before the wedding to find a couple of good photo spots prior to Larissa & Xavier’s wedding day.  I was SO SO SOOOOO excited when I found this bench.  My favorite image from the day:

Flushmount Wedding Album

I love photo albums.  Thumbing through a stack of 4×6′s is great, and browsing through images on the computer screen is fine, but NOTHING beats coming back again and again to view images in an album. I love photo albums. :)

I’m always so excited to show my clients their wedding album that I rush it out the door and kick myself later when I realize I forgot to take a few photos.  I was equally excited to get Sara and Andy their wedding album but this time I remembered to take some quick shots of a few of the page spreads:
