High School Senior Photos : What to Expect

A senior portrait photoshoot is a fun, one hour session aimed at capturing your unique personality and style. Choose a location from my list of favorites around the Longmont/Boulder/Lyons areas (or if you have someplace else in mind, feel free to run it by me. I’m always up for something new!). We’ll meet up and spend about an hour wandering around to find spots where the light is best. I’ve got a handful of grrrrreat jokes, you may hear one or two. ;-) It’s low-stress, lots of fun, and you’ll forever have unique + fresh portraits to remember this special time of your life.

Yes! Your senior portrait session is one hour long, which usually allows time for two outfits. There aren’t always ideal areas to change at the locations I shoot, so plan on changing in your car. :)

Absolutely! Come by yourself or with a parent/friend. Whatever makes you most comfortable works for me.

Just be you! Feel free to go bold with color, if that’s who you are, or keep it more neutral if that better reflects your style. Despite what people often think, there are no rules (in my book!) against stripes or patterns, so if that’s your style, go for it!

If you’re up for it, I’ll have you sitting, standing, walking, and possibly laying throughout the session, so make sure you’re comfortable in the clothing you choose. If your shoes are super cute but crazy uncomfortable consider bringing a comfy pair of sandals to slip on in between shots as we walk around.

You’ll see your images in a password-protected online proofing gallery about 1-2 weeks after your session. If you’re on a tight deadline and need to see your images/receive your prints or files sooner, please inquire for rush rates.

I offer a variety of print sizes and packages, in addition to digital files. Prints start at $30. Please contact me for more information on pricing.

Anywhere in the Longmont-Boulder-Lyons-Loveland-north Denver area works for me! I almost always prefer outdoor locations over indoor locations, but let me know what you have in mind. If there is an entrance fee (state park, etc.), you’ll need to cover that expense.
If you’re set on shooting at a location outside of the Longmont-Boulder-Lyons-Loveland-north Denver radius, inquire for travel rates.

Yes! Most people prefer to buy digital files so that they can make custom graduation announcements, grad party invites, etc. You can buy individual digital files or the entire digital proof set from your session.

The deadline for submitting a senior photo for the yearbook at some schools is as early as September of your senior year. Check with the yearbook advisor at your school for your exact date–most in northern Colorado are due between September and November.
Because of this early deadline most seniors have their photos taken during the summer between junior and senior year.

Definitely! Just let me know ahead of time if there is something you want incorporated into a shot–it helps me to have a little bit of time to start thinking about how to best work it in.

Two locations work if they’re close in proximity. Otherwise too much of the one-hour session time is wasted driving between spots. If you’re set on two locations that have a bit of distance between them inquire about rates for a longer session.

Not too frequently, but if there is enough interest, I will arrange a date to do mini sessions. Subscribe to the Angie Wilson Photography newsletter to be the first to know when new mini session dates are added.
